Serena slid past Kuznetsova in Doha to make it interesting in the (maroon) group of death. Elena the (almost) Great basically ended Venus’ interest in the tournament and Azarenka thrashed Jankovic just to show she can. Jelena might as well go home now.Still picking that Wozniacki and Azarenka qualify from the easy (white) group and Serena and the Kuz make it through from the maroon group. Dementieva only needs one more win though. Only fifteen double faults against Venus.
Still nothing interesting from the men’s tournaments in Vienna, St Petersburg and wherever. Apparently Safin will play sometime.
Dokic won in Poitiers, as did Cibulkova, Krajicek, Shvedova and qualifier Rus. Zakopalova, Strycova, Malek and Voegele won in Ortisei.
Myskina is either out of shape or looking just fine (depending on your outlook) while commentating at Doha.
